1. The City of Houston Mayor's Office of Special Events estimates that 32,000 people came out for Shell Freedom Over Texas this year, down from an average of 50,000 people in years past. Houston Police Department says they are not aware of any arrests during the celebration. (ABC 13)
2. The 5-year-old girl who was shot and killed in the back of her mother’s vehicle at a north Houston intersection has been identified as Khamaya Dior Donelson. Officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 13500 block of Northborough Drive near Rushcreek Drive in the Greenspoint area around 1 a.m. Sunday, according to police. (Click2Houston)
3. A man was found dead and handcuffed inside a vehicle on Monday morning in southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. The discovery was made around 10:48 a.m. when police patrol units observed a pickup truck parked in the 3800 block of Alice Street, police said. An investigation is now underway. (Click2Houston)
4. Sugar Land Town Square has been named a Great Public Space as part of the 2022 Great Places in Texas program, an achievement given by the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. It joins the iconic Buffalo Bayou and Discovery Green with the designation. (CultureMap Houston)
5. Comicpalooza is back from July 15-17 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. There will be plenty to do for anime fans, comic book fans, gamers and more. Special guests include Zach Aguilar, Justin Cook, Trina Nishimura and more. Tickets are now available and start at $25 for adults and $6 for children. (Houston On The Cheap)

- HCA Healthcare Kingwood graduated its first class of students from its recently established medical residency program in late May. It is the first residency program in the Greater Houston area outside the Texas Medical Center. (Community Impact News)
- Montgomery County voted unanimously to approve a countywide burn ban at a Commissioner's Court special meeting July 5. (Community Impact News)
- The number of monkeypox cases in Texas is now 20, according to the Department of Health Services. 8 of those 20 cases are in Houston. (KHOU 11)
