Cy-Lakes High School and McFee Elementary School were locked down after the 6 juveniles ran onto the Cy-Lakes campus, police said.

CYPRESS, TX — Two Cy-Fair ISD school campuses were placed on lock down Friday morning after six juveniles burglarized a home nearby, officials said. The incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. and officials are crediting the quick reaction of sheriff's deputies, and the Cy-Fair ISD Police.

Officials said six juveniles were trying to break into a home in the Brenwood Park Subdivision in far west Harris County, and didn't count on finding anyone at home.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a burglary in progress call at a home in the 19200 block of Sandleford Drive.

The homeowner said someone had kicked in his front door. Deputies got there within just a few minutes, and the juveniles all ran from the backyard and to the baseball field at nearby Cy-Lakes High School.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Cy-Lakes High School and McFee Elementary School were locked down after the six juveniles ran onto the Cy-Lakes campus as they were being chased by the homeowner they’d allegedly burglarized.

Deputies who were nearby apprehended all six juveniles suspects and took them into custody to the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center for processing.

The campuses were taken off lock down a short time later, Gonzalez announced. No one was injured.

All six will likely face burglary and evading charges, officials said.
