Astros Awarded Cardinals Draft Picks, $2 Million Penalty in Hacking Case

Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced decision on Monday afternoon.

The Houston Astros will be $2 million richer and receive the first two draft picks of the St. Louis Cardinals, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred announced on Monday.

The penalties are the result of illegal hacking perpetrated by a former Cardinals executive, Chris Correa, who a year ago pleaded guilty after being accused of gaining illegal access into the Astros' database known as "Ground Control." He was sentenced to 46 months in prison.

The draft picks awarded to the Astros are number 56 and number 75.
