Beanie-Wearing Suspect Caught Minutes After Robbery: Police
A detailed description from an eyewitness led to the arrest of an alleged serial robber, police said.

HOUSTON, TX -- A man who police say wore a black beanie cap and black-framed glasses during a half-dozen armed robberies in the Houston area was arrested outside a convenience store Monday morning. Sheriff’s deputies arrested 36-year-old Kenneth Darrell Tillman shortly after a witness identified his car leaving the scene of a robbery, according to police.
Police said Tillman went into the Best Western Plus Hotel in the 200 block of Greens Landing about 3:30 a.m. and asked about the price of a room. The clerk told investigators that Tillman, who was wearing a black beanie, glasses, and a black shirt, pulled a gun from his waistband and demanded cash, according to police.
Tillman ran from the hotel with the cash, but a witness was able to write down the license plate number of Tillman’s car and give police a description of his clothing. During a search for Tillman, a sheriff’s deputy spotted his car parked at a Stripes Gas Mart in the 14800 block of the North Freeway, according to a press release.

Deputies arrested Tillman as soon as he walked outside. Deputies searched Tillman’s car and found a black beanie, clothing and a handgun. Investigators said Tillman’s clothing matched the description of clothes worn in five similar robberies in the Houston area within the last several weeks.
Tillman was charged with six counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
