Charges In DWI Crash Upgraded To Manslaughter After Victim Dies
Isreal Lugo, 35, will face intoxication manslaughter charges after one of the injured, Giselle Luviano, 5, died on Sunday.

HOUSTON — A man accused of driving drunk and injuring a woman and a 5-year-old girl in a crash on Jan. 20 could be charged with intoxication manslaughter after one of the victims died this weekend.
Officials confirmed that Giselle Luviano, who suffered severe head injuries in the crash, died on Sunday.
According to investigators, Isreal Lugo, 35, admitted to drinking 12 beers at an area bar before getting behind the wheel of his pickup.

Officials said Lugo was driving a red GMC Sierra pickup truck westbound on Harrisburg Street at about 1:15 a.m. on , and was seen weaving in and out of the traffic lanes toward 75th Street.
Police said Lugo ran a red light and smashed into the side of a black Cadillac CTS that had the green light.

The crash severely injured Luviano, and her aunt, 24-year-old Kimberly Saucedo, who was in ICU with broken bones, officials said.

Lugo, who was free on a $5,000 bond and charged with intoxication assault, was ordered back to jail on Wednesday after his bail amount was increased to $40,000.
Prosecutors in the case are expected to file intoxication manslaughter charges against Lugo this week.
