Criminal Court Judge Cassandra Holleman Dies At 57
Criminal Court Judge Cassandra Holleman, who was one of 19 African American women win during a massive Democratic sweep. died Monday at 57.

HOUSTON — Judge Cassandra Holleman, who rode a Democratic wave to elected office in November, died Monday of natural causes. She was 57-years-old.
Holleman, who presided over Harris County Criminal Court at Law #12, was part of a history-making event in November when 19 black women were elected to the bench in various Harris County courts.
Holleman assumed the bench after being sworn in by newly elected Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo on Jan. 1.

Those who knew Holleman said she’d been dealing with health issues. Holleman also served on the Community Supervision and Pretrial Services Committee for Harris County.
Funeral services are pending.
