Gang Member, 19, Faces 2 Murder Counts, DA Says
Kendrick Johnson, 19, is charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Kenneth Roberson, 24, Delindsey Mack, 18.
HOUSTON — Charges have been filed against a 19-year-old man who police said killed two young men last year during an ongoing war between two rival street gangs, Harris County Kim Ogg said Friday.
Kendrick Johnson has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Kenneth Roberson, 24, on Sept. 23 and Delindsey Mack, 18, on Nov. 13.
Ogg said Johnson, who is a member of the 103’s in Houston’s Third Ward, also known as the 103 100 Percent Third Ward, had an ongoing feud against another local clique, the Young Scott Block gang, or the YSB’s.

“We’re here to urge the killings to stop; to talk to the individuals, the young people, making choices about giving their loyalty to groups that murder one another,” Ogg said. “We’re here to say it’s time for young men to stop dying on our streets.”

Johnson has also been charged with aggravated assault after he shot another man in the neck on Jan. 8.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, who thanked the victim's mothers for working with investigators.
Acevedo said that while some may consider the deaths of Mack and Robison a statistic, they both had families, who were president during his comments.
“I want to tell both families that we stand with you, the criminal justice system stands with you, and I know the mayor and the DA stand with you…,” he said. “We don’t care if a suspect shoots a gang member or a non-gang member. We don’t care who it is. Every life in this city is precious to this police department.”
Although charges have been filed, officials said that Johnson is not in custody and remains at large. Police have not released his mug shot.
