Off-Duty Deputy Interrupts Gas Station Robbery, Shoots Suspect
An off-duty deputy constable who came upon an armed robbery, shot one of the suspects, and caught another as 3 others escaped, police say.
HOUSTON — An off-duty deputy constable shot and wounded a robbery suspect outside of a northwest Houston gas station Sunday night, officials said.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. outside of the Valero station in the 4300 block of Gessner Road.
The Pct. 6 deputy constable had just ended his shift and was on his way home in uniform when he saw four men wearing hooded sweatshirts running from the gas station, police said.

The deputy pulled into the parking lot to investigate when he allegedly saw the clerk inside the store with his hands raised.
The deputy said two of the robbers, one of them armed with a baseball bat, ran toward his vehicle. Investigators said the deputy drew his weapon and fired, hitting one of the suspects who escaped.

The deputy managed to capture one of the suspects but three others are on the run, police said.
Investigators said the robbers escaped in a white SUV with cash and cigarettes. The name of the deputy constable was not released.
