Off-Duty Deputy Kills Armed Man Outside Of Nightclub: Police
An off-duty sheriff's deputy who was working security in a nightclub parking lot shot and killed a man who police said had a gun.

HOUSTON – An armed man, who police say was acting suspiciously, was shot and killed by an off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy outside a nightclub early Monday morning, police said. Investigators said the shooting happened in the parking lot of a flea market, which also houses the Club Las Cumbres located in the 8800 block of Airline Drive in northwest Harris County.
The deputies were providing security as part of a side job and were patrolling the parking lot at midnight, when they saw two men sitting in a pickup truck acting suspiciously, investigators said.
Lt. Chris Sandoval with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide said the deputies went over to the pickup and shined a flashlight inside and saw one of the men had a gun.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sandoval said the driver who surrendered to deputies also had a gun.
“Our deputies were out here and thank God none of them were injured,” Sandoval said. “We are just thankful that none of our officers were injured.”
The identities of the two suspects in the pickup were not released.
The shooting is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science.
