Fire Erupts At Cypress Mulch Facility, Could Burn For Days
High heat likely caused the mulch pile to spontaneously combust, fire officials said.

CYPRESS, TX – A massive mulch fire erupted in northwest Harris County Monday night and officials say the fire could smolder and burn for days. The fire was reported about 10:30 p.m. at The Ground Up in the 9900 block of Windfern.
Investigators said the high heat caused the mulch pile to spontaneously combust, which isn’t uncommon. The fire also damaged heavy equipment inside the mulch yard.
Firefighters brought in heavy equipment to try and suppress burning embers and knock down the mulch piles to keep the fire contained.
