Forgotten By Dad In Hot Car, Girl, 3, Hospitalized: Police

Her dad made a frantic call for help late Monday afternoon when he realized what he had done, police said.

HOUSTON – A 3-year-old girl who was trapped in the backseat of a hot car all day on Monday is being treated for dehydration at a local hospital, police said. Houston Police received a frantic call from the child’s father at about 4:15 p.m.

The child’s father told police he was at work in the 8700 block of South Gessner Road. According to police, the child's father went outside to his car and discovered his daughter still in her car seat.

The child was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she is in stable condition, police said. She is expected to recover.

Temperatures in the Houston area were in the mid-90s on Monday with a heat index in the triple digits.

The father told police he but her in her car seat Monday morning, but forgot to drop his daughter off at the daycare center. Police have not said if the father will face any criminal charges.
