Here are the top five stories today in Houston:
1. A 5-year-old child was killed and an 8-year-old was injured in a possible drive-by shooting early Sunday morning in Houston, according to police. Witnesses said a car carrying the children and their mother was stopped at a stop sign when a dark-colored vehicle drove through the intersection and opened fire. (Houston Patch)
2. Members of the Houston community joined together Sunday afternoon to march against violence following the fatal shooting of a beloved pastor, Rev. Dr. Ronald K. Mouton Sr. Mouton was killed during a possible road-rage incident on Gulf Freeway. (Click2Houston)
3. Burns Original BBQ celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, July 2, at the Shadow Creek Kroger located at 11003 Shadow Creek Pkwy., Pearland. It is the second Kroger outpost for Burns Original. (CultureMap Houston)
4. Officials canceled the firework show at the Tomball July 4th Celebration and Street Festival, originally planned for this evening in northwest Harris County. The festival will continue without the show. "Due to current drought conditions, the fireworks show has been canceled to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors," read a Facebook post from organizers. (ABC 13)
5. Houston is ranked no. 10 in the top 10 BBQ spots in the U.S.A. in a new report by LawnStarter. The criteria used was the number of award-winning BBQ restaurants, highly-rated BBQ joints, festivals, and experience hosting "master-level" competitions. (Fox 7)

- Solar panel permits for Houston single-family residential homes have surged in the last two years as energy costs rise. Permits were issued for 2,408 city addresses in 2021, up from 719 in 2019. (Community Impact News)
- Surepoint Emergency Center, a new medical clinic in The Woodlands area, opened in mid-June at 10815 Kuykendahl Road, The Woodlands. It is the 15th location of the business and the first one in the Houston area. (Community Impact News)
- Houston police say a man is recovering after being shot twice in a robbery Saturday night near Houston's Museum District. The man shot was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery and is expected to survive, according to officials. (ABC 13)
