Harris County DA Reviewing 2,200 Cases Linked To 2 HPD Officers
Felony narcotics cases linked to HPD officers Steve Bryant and Gerald Goines are being reviewed, officials said Monday.
HOUSTON — At least 800 criminal cases linked to Houston Police narcotics investigator Steve Bryant are being reviewed, Harris County prosecutors announced Monday. The announcement comes two weeks after Harris County DA Kim Ogg announced that her office would review 1,400 cases related to HPD narcotics officer Gerald Goines.
“We have a duty to the people of Harris County to pursue justice in every instance, no matter how many cases this involves,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement. “We are going to thoroughly review each of these cases to ensure that the arrests and convictions were proper.”
Goines and and Bryant, who were both linked to a botched narcotics raid on Harding Street on Jan. 28 that Dennis Tuttle, and is wife, Rhogena Nicholas, and injured five officers including Goines.

Suspicious arose hours after the raid that ultimately led to Bryant and Goines both being relieved of duty by Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.

Goines is accused of lying in an official affidavit that was used to obtain a no-knock warrant, amid allegations that a confidential informant had purchased black tar heroin at a home at the Tuttle's home.
