Houston Amber Alert Canceled; Was Result Of Domestic Disturbance

Police said a witness reported seeing a 10-year-old girl forced into a car in southeast Houston Thursday morning, prompting the alert.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston Police said an Amber Alert that was issued after a witness saw a child being forced into a car in southeast Houston Thursday morning has been canceled.

Police said that around 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, a witness saw the child forced into the car in the 5600 block of Selinsky. When police canceled the alert, they said it was the result of a domestic disturbance and the man at the center of the alert came forward to detectives.

The man told police he had been arguing with his girlfriend, who is in her 20s, when he drove away with her.

Police said they spoke with the woman independently and she confirmed the story.
