Houston Election Guide 2019: What's On The Ballot

Voters will decide a number of local races on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in Houston. Here's what you need to know.

Voters in Houston will head to the ballot box on Tuesday, Nov.5 to cast their votes in a number of local races, including for mayor, various city council seats and for one of three state house races taking place in Texas.

Polls open on election day at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Residents can find local polling places and their local ballot on the Harris County clerk's website. You can also visit the Houston Chronicle's election guide to see which city council district and which Houston ISD district you live in.

Statewide Constitutional Amendments

Ten constitutional amendments are up for consideration on Tuesday. Read more about the amendments on the ballot that voters statewide will decide on.

State House District 148 (See a map of the district)

With the resignation of Rep. Jessica Farar, a special election is being held to fill the remainder of Farrar's term left in the State House district that encompasses parts of Houston.

15 candidates (12 Democrats, two Republicans and one Independent candidate) are running for the seat.
