Houston ISD Accountability Ratings: See How Your School Fared
The Texas Education Agency gave out A-F grades for individual schools for the first time in addition to the district and charter grades.
HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Independent School District received an overall B accountability grade from the Texas Education Agency. The ratings were released on Thursday for approximately 1200 school districts and charter schools.
For the 2019 ratings, the agency provided A-F ratings for individual schools in addition to the letter grades it usually provides for district and charters. The grades are given based on performance in the following three categories:
- Student Achievement: shows how much students know and are able to do at the end of the school year.
- School Progress: shows how students perform over time and how that growth compares to similar schools.
- Closing the Gaps: shows how well different groups of students within a school are performing.
The majority of districts and charters in the state received an overall B rating while 301 received an A rating. 14 districts and charters received an F rating from the state.
