Houston Muslim Shot Outside Mosque
A Houston-area Muslim man was shot outside a Mosque.

Houston, TX -- A Muslim doctor was shot outside the Madrasah Islamiah mosque -- 6665 Bintliff Dr., between Bellaire Boulevard and U.S. 59, in Southwest Houston -- early on the morning of Sunday, July 3.
The faithful were arriving -- sleepy-eyed children in tow -- for the Fajr, or dawn prayer, Dr. Arslan Tajammul among them. At around 5:30 a.m., the doctor parked his car along the street, began walking to the mosque.
Before the Tajammul could make it, three people approached on foot. One of them pulled a gun, shot the doctor. Twice. He may have also been stabbed. Their work done, the three ran off.

Tajammul threw his cell phone at someone in the mosque, told them to call 911. An ambulance arrived, took the doctor to the hospital. He's in ICU, is expected to survive.
Although Witnesses nothing was taken from the doctor, HPD thinks it was an robbery gone south and not a hate crime.
