Man Accused Of Stealing Woman's Ashes Charged With Burglary
Marcus Cruz Ramirez, 49, is accused of burglarizing a home and stealing electronics, jewelry, and a dead woman's ashes, police said.

HOUSTON — A man police said stole an urn containing a woman's ashes during a home burglary in October was arrested April 22. Marcus Cruz Ramirez, 49, was arrested following an exhaustive investigation, according to representatives from the Harris County Pct. 1 Constables Office.
Ramirez and another man are accused of burglarizing the home in the 4100 block of West T.C. Jester in October 2018.
The homeowner told investigators several items were stolen including three laptops, an iPad, jewelry, cash, and her mother’s ashes which were inside an urn.

The victim also told investigators that someone urinated on her bed during the burglary. Surveillance cameras at the home caught images of the two men believed responsible for the theft.
Through exhaustive investigation, police were able to s able to identify one of the suspects as Ramirez, police said.

He was arrested April 22 and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of Burglary of a Habitation.
Police said Ramirez has been unable to tell investigators the current location of the ashes. Meanwhile, investigators are working to identify the second man involved in the burglary, ans well as working to locate the woman's ashes.
