Man Charged In DWI Crash That Injured Woman And Child: Police

Isreal Suarez Lugo, 34, is charged with two counts of intoxication assault after police said he ran a red light and slammed into a car.

HOUSTON, TX — A man accused of running a red light and causing a crash that injured a woman and a child is facing intoxication assault charges, police said.

Isreal Suarez Lugo, 34, is charged with two counts of intoxication assault after police said he ran a red light at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 7500 block of Harrisburg Boulevard, and slammed into the side of a car with two adults and two children.

One of the women, identified as Kimberly Saucedo, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition and is currently in ICU with internal injuries.

A 5-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Texas Children's Hospital and is also in critical condition, police said.

Officials said Lugo told police he'd been drinking several hours, and was leaving a bar on his way to a relative's home. If he is convicted, Lugo could spend 10 years in prison.

Lugo was taken to the Harris County Jail and was later released on bond.
