Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Pregnant Woman At Houston Hotel

HOUSTON, TX — Authorities have arrested a man in the fatal shooting of a pregnant 18-year-old woman in Houston.

City officials said on Tuesday that Justin Jerel Herron, 31, is charged with capital murder. The woman, identified as Patra Perkins, was found dead at a Houston hotel room on Sunday night.

A patrol officer was flagged down by a person who said he had heard there was a woman in a room at Home Town Suites who was dead, police said. The officer went to do a welfare check and when hotel staff knocked on the door and had no answer, they entered the room.

Police said Perkins had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Herron had rented the room from Aug. 2-9.
