Man Wanted In Wife's Murder Dies During SWAT Standoff
Arthur Edigin, 62, who was wanted for the murder of his wife, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

CYPRESS, TX — A man accused of killing his estranged wife, and critically wounding his daughter in a church parking lot shooting Thursday night, killed himself during a short standoff with SWAT officers, police said.
Arthur Edigin, 62, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside a bathroom at the Extended Stay America Hotel near the west Sam Houston Tollway and Westheimer Road, ending a five-hour standoff with police, investigators said.
Edigin had been on the run since 7 p.m. when he allegedly confronted his estranged wife and daughter in the parking lot of the Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Cypress.

According to witnesses, Edigin fired at least five shots through the passenger window at his estranged wife, identified as Graciela Torres, 66 and his daughter. 31-year-old Penny Grace Edigin, before fleeing the scene.
Torres died at the scene and his daughter underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition, police said.

The manhunt for Edigin, which spanned into the early morning hours, ended when Edigin was seen checking into the Extended Stay America Hotel at about 2 a.m.
SWAT officers were dispatched to the hotel and evacuated hotel guests who staying adjacent to where Edigin was barricaded.
During the negotiations, deputies reported hearing a single gunshot. An hour later, deputies sent in a robot into the room and found Edigin dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The case remains under investigation.
