METRO Offers Free Rides To Federal Workers Impacted By Shutdown
Free transit service will be available to federal workers for the duration of the government shutdown on all METRO services in Houston.

HOUSTON — Federal employees who have been impacted by the partial government shutdown can get free rides from METRO, starting this weekend.
METRO officials announced their plan in a press release on Friday. Free transit service will be available to federal workers for the duration of the government shutdown on METRO local bus, METRORail, Park & Ride and METROLift.
Federal workers will need to show a federally issued government employee identification card at the time of boarding to receive the free ride benefit.

At least 35,000 Texans are on the federal payroll, including several thousand in Houston and the surrounding region.
