MLK Weekend Events Happening In Houston

There are great things happening in Houston and other communities around town on the long MLK weekend.

HOUSTON — This weekend features a ton of cool events happening in Houston that include the Houston Marathon on Sunday, and the annual MLK Day parade on Monday.

However, there are other events scheduled in communities in Greater Houston happening on Friday and Saturday that will be fun for the entire family.

Funfetti Friday at Discovery Green| Houston| Friday 7-9 p.m.| Kick off the weekend with some family fun ice skating at downtown’s premier destination. Tickets are $11 and skate rental, if you need them, are $4 each.

Rosenberg Wedding and Quincenera Expo| Rosenberg| Saturday 12-3 p.m.| Free|The Rosenberg Development Corporation will host “A Day to Remember,” Wedding and Quinceañera Expo at the Rosenberg Civic Center. Guests can visit the expo to discover local vendors that specialize in event planning necessities from photography to floral arrangements. The expo will feature over 25 vendors for catering, venues, desserts, photography, beauty treatments, and clothing and jewelry. Fitness in the Plaza at Sugar Land Town Sqare| Saturday 9-11 a.m.| Free| Stay on track with your fitness resolutions and take part in this Free fitness bootcamp 9-10 a.m. Enjoy Zumba from 10-11 a.m.

MLK Youth Parade| Midtown Houston| Saturday, noon-1:30 p.m.| Free| Take part in the 13th annual youth parade, and check out the numerous floats and marching bands paying tribute to MLK. The parade route begins at San Jacinto St. & Elgin N/B On San Jacinto St To Webster St.

Urban Harvest Farmer’s Market| Houston| Saturday 8 a.m. - noon| No cover| Come on out and find the freshest produce in Houston, and sample some of the prepared food too.

Chevron Houston Marathon| Downtown| Sunday @ 6:45 a.m.| It’s too late to register, but it’s free to show up and be supportive for a great event.

Family Fun Day at the MATCH| Houston| Sunday 1-4 p.m.| Free| It’s an afternoon of family fun at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston. Kids can enjoy the bounce house, kid-friendly concerts and a lot more.

MLK Day at the Children’s Museum| Houston| Monday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.| $5 Admission | Celebrate the legacy of MLK at this fun and interactive schedule of events.

41st Annual Original MLK Day Parade| Houston| Monday starting at 10 a.m.| Free| Presented by the Black Heritage Society, this year’s combined parade will begin at City Hall in Downtown Houston.

Bingo in the Biergarten| Karbach Brewery in Houston| Sunday 6-8 p.m.| Sip a cool brew on the patio while trying your luck at a little Bingo.
