Montgomery County Judge Suspended Without Pay
Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyal was suspended by Texas' State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

Conroe, TX -- Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyal was suspended without pay by Texas' State Commission on Judicial Conduct. The commission cited Doyal's recent indictment for violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act as the reason for his suspension.
Doyal, who is the county's chief executive, received notice of his suspension on Tuesday, June 28, while the county commissioners were in a regularly scheduled meeting. The suspension took effect immediately.
The commission's decision is somewhat odd, given its statutory authority. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct can only take action against county judges if they also perform traditional judicial duties.
