5 Arrested, 1 On the Run In Willowbrook Mall Jewelry Heist

Police say as many as six suspects were involved in a smash and grab robbery at the Zales inside Willowbrook Mall.

HOUSTON — Houston Police arrested several suspects Monday afternoon after a smash and grab robbery inside Willowbrook Mall.

Witnesses said as many as four suspects used hammers to smash display cases at the Zales Jewelers inside the mall at about 12:30 p.m.

The suspects fled the mall, but police were able to track down and arrest five suspects in two vehicles near Gulf Bank and Interstate 45.

Police have not said how many of those in custody actually committed the robbery. Police said the robbers escaped the mall with $100K in loot.

One suspect is still on the run. Police have not released the identity of the suspects. It's not known how much of the merchandise was recovered
