Murder in the Electric Chair
Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting at a southwest side tattoo studio.

Houston, TX — The 8700 block of Richmond Avenue is no one’s idea of scenic. It’s a sketchy part of the city filled with mechanics selling cut rate inspections, a used car lot that doesn’t require social security numbers or bank accounts and a little yellow strip center with a company called “10 Hour Business Cards.”
Next door to the world’s most questionable business card company is the Electric Chair, one of Houston’s better-known tattoo and piercing shops. The studio has collected a wall of awards for its service and professionalism.

Sadly, the Electric Chair has become well-known for a completely different reason. At about 11:35 p.m. on June 14 a guy got into an argument with one of the Electric Chair’s piercers, Peter Pina, and pulled a gun.
Pina, 33, of Richmond, TX, was shot once and died at the shop. The shooter tried to leave but was tackled by one of the studio’s artists and a customer who kept him there until the police arrived.
