Police Release Mugshot Of Man Charged In DWI Crash

Isreal Suarez Lugo, 35, is charged with two counts of intoxication assault. He is currently free on bond, police said.

HOUSTON — Houston Police have released the mugshot of a man accused of running a red light and crashing into the side of a car on Sunday. Isreal Suarez Lugo, 35, was charged with intoxication assault in the 339th State District Court.

According to a witness, Lugo, who was driving a red GMC Sierra pickup truck westbound on Harrisburg, was weaving in and out of the traffic lanes toward 75th Street.

Police said the driver of a black Cadillac CTS was traveling northbound on South 75th Street, approaching the intersection of Harrisburg, and had the green light.

As Lugo approached the intersection of South 75th, he accelerated and ran the red light, striking the Cadillac as it entered the intersection.

The crash critically injured a 5-year-old girl, who was taken to Texas Children's Hospital with severe head trauma.

A second female victim, 24, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with broken bones and is expected to survive.

A 15-year-old male passenger in the Cadillac managed to crawl out of the car and was transported to Texas Children's Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Methodist Hospital for evaluation, and was not seriously injured.

Police detained Lugo at the scene, and said he appeared to be intoxicated. A passenger in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene and released.
