Police Say Woman Who Crashed Into Deputy May Have Been Impaired

A woman who ran a red light and crashed into an off-duty deputy constable had marijuana in her SUV, police said.

SPRING, TEXAS – A woman who police say ran a red light and slammed into a car driven by an off-duty Harris County Precinct 5 Constable, was allegedly under the influence and had marijuana in her vehicle, police said. The deputy was injured and is recovering at home.

The crash happened just before 4 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Kuykendahl and Louetta roads in Spring. Investigators said as the deputy passed through the intersection, the driver of an SUV ran a red light and slammed into his car.

When police arrived, they found the deputy lying unconscious on the ground next to his car. He was taken to an area hospital by EMS and later released. The woman was still in her SUV when they arrived and appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

Police searched the SUV and found a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle. The woman was taken arrested, but police have said what charges she is facing at this time.
