Arrest Made In Shooting Of Security Guard In Southeast Houston

Police said the security guard was trying to help a woman being choked when he was shot.

HOUSTON, TX — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a security guard in southeast Houston last week.

According to Houston Police, the shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. at 11460 Fuqua Street on Aug. 21.

Police said the guard went to help a woman who was being choked by a man when he was shot in the leg and injured. The man then fled and fired shots at a second man at a nearby apartment complex. Police said the man at the apartment complex was not hit by gunfire.

The security guard was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police have charged David J. Spears, 27, with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of deadly conduct and felon in possession of a firearm.
