Tattooed Houston Police Will Soon Be Allowed To Wear Short Sleeves
Chief Art Acevedo says employee comfort is important in hot weather.

HOUSTON, TX — Tattoos are everywhere now, on all kinds of people. Grandmothers, teachers, librarians, and CEOs all have them. And soon, police officers in Houston who have them on their arms will be able to wear short-sleeved shirts, thanks to Chief Art Acevedo.
You might ask, so what? Well, the Bayou City is a notorious steam bath in the summertime, and Acevedo wants his employees to be comfortable while on the job.
Come summer, you'll see Houston officers' tattoos in all their glory, something that is now forbidden. Current policy states that no officer can have tattoos that cannot be concealed by a uniform or plainclothes attire.

Acevedo, who implemented a similar tattoo-friendly police in Austin when he headed the police force there, said that professionalism means conduct, service, and results, not a tattoo on a limb.
It will still be forbidden for officers to have tattoos on their hands, necks, or faces, and offensive tats are strictly off limits.

The chief said the policy change will come into effect in the next few months.
What do you think? Should police officers be able to display their tattoos while on duty?
