Tornado Warning Prompts Shelter In Place For School Districts
Severe storms and heavy rain pounded Houston Friday. More severe weather is possible overnight, officials warn

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Harris and Montgomery Counties until 2:45 p.m. after a possible tornado was spotted near Tomball in northwest Harris County.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Tomball Independent School District ordered all of its campuses to shelter in place, followed by schools in Klein and Magnolia.
Severe storms and heavy rain began impacting areas of Harris and Montgomery County at about 10 a.m.

Officials also issued a tornado warning for Austin, Colorado and Wharton Counties, which expired at 2:30 p.m. and was extended to 3:15 p.m.
Fort Bend County is also under a tornado warning until 3:15 p.m.

Officials in Columbus and La Grange reported a possible tornado touching down. No injuries were reported.
The first band of rain is expected to move through the Houston area Friday evening, followed by another band of severe weather overnight. Forecasters predict the rain moving out of the Houston area by mid morning on Saturday.
