Truffles and Chefs: Who Will Be the 2017 Master?

HOUSTON, TX — They are the stuff of culinary legend, difficult to find and delicious. If you've never tasted a black or white truffle, you are missing out. A few slices over a bowl of pasta is an ethereal experience. Legends have grown up around them and their tastes and flavors. They are rare and expensive. And they are in Houston in a big way tonight.

This evening, truffles are starring at the 2017 Truffle Masters, an event that brings together chefs from some of the best restaurants in the Houston area and pits them against one another. Their assignment: to come up with the best dish made with black truffles.

Truffle novices and pros alike will enjoy this feast of the fungi, and there's still time to get tickets. Participating chefs include Brandi Key of SaltAir Seafood Kitchen, Kristofer Jakob of Brasserie 1895, and Luis Roger of BCN Taste & Tradition.

The Truffle Masters takes place at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts from 7-10 p.m.
