What's Happening This Weekend: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
Parades, concerts and a plethora of family friendly events are happening this Cinco de Mayo weekend in Houston. Go have some fun.
HOUSTON -- It’s Cinco de Mayo weekend and that means many Houstonians are looking for a place to celebrate, or just hang out with cool people.
A few cool Cinco de Mayo events happening in and around Houston include:
- Cinco de Mayo Festival at El Big Bad| 419 Travis St | Friday-Sunday| Take part in this weekend-long celebration with doors opening at Houston’s premier margarita bar. Enjoy mas liquid nitro, mucho tequila and a lot of fun. Cost to enter is cover,
- Two Day Partido at Pistolero’s|1517 Westheimer Rd| Saturday and Sunday starting at noon both days. Party in the parking lot and celebrate Cinco de Mayo with copious amounts of fun with margarita specials, mariachi karaoke and a lot more.

- Cinco de Mayo Parade in Houston| Sunday 10-noon| Come out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia who will serve as grand marshals for this year’s Cinco de Mayo parade. The event is free and open to the public.
- Cinco do Brunch Mixer at Spring Street Beer and Wine Garden| Sunday 2-6 p.m.| Live music, food and drink specials and a plethora of vendors.
- Cinco de Mayo at Discovery Green| Sunday 3-5 p.m.| Discovery Green's inaugural Cinco de Mayo event will celebrate Mexican culture and heritage with a lineup of live music and traditional dance. The event is free to the public.
- Cinco de Mayo at Miller Outdoor Theatre| Sunday at 8 p.m.| Enjoy your Cinco de May nightcap under the stars with the sounds of Lupillo Rivera. The award-winning Mexican sing and songwriter affectionately known as “El Toro del Corrido” will sing the traditional songs and ballads popular in the Mexican culture.

- 65th Annual League City Music Festival and BBQ Cookoff| May 2-5| Walter Hall Park, 807 SH 3 N League City, TX.
- Generation Park Block Party| Saturday, 3-10 p.m.| Come on out for the 2nd Annual Generation Park Block Party at Redemption Square, Lake Houston’s lifestyle and entertainment district, and enjoy a full day of live music, delicious food and drinks and plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy and stay for the firework show to end the night! Featured performers include Sundance Head and Bri Bagwell from the Voice, award-winning Latin band Caliente, the C.E. King High School Band Drumline, and a lot more. Don’t forget to stay for the fireworks.

- Tomball's 8th Annual Rails and Tails Mudbug Festival| Saturday 11a.m. - 8 p.m.| Free| Tomball is surely Texan For Fun, but it gets a lot more fun with music and mudbugs. There will be pot-loads of crawfish, fried ‘gator, boudin balls, etouffee’ and all sorts of festival foods, too. Shop the vendors and then turn the kids loose in the kids zone for even more fun. Bring the family to this annual event at the Tomball Depot.
- Kiddie Academy Music and More| Saturday at 10 a.m.| Free|Kiddie Academy Educational Child Care, a nationally recognized provider of comprehensive educational child care programs, invites local families to participate in age-appropriate dance, art and music activities at an indoor Music & More event hosted by Kiddie Academies of Aliana and Richmond.
- The Woodlands Waterway Nights| Saturday 6:30-8:30 p.m.| Free| Waterway Nights features live music on nearly every genre. Just bring your lawn chairs and ice chests, sit back and take in the tunes from a variety of bands and entertainers. It will be the best free event this summer. This Saturday, the Latin band Yelba performs.
