What's Happening This Weekend: Check Out The Events In Your Area

Things are hopping this weekend in Houston, Pasadena, Sugar Land, and communities in between.

HOUSTON — Got plans this weekend? There are a lot of cool events happening in Houston and the surrounding area this weekend. Many of those are not only close by, but may also be cheap. Some of those events are even free.

Here are a few to help you plan your weekend on the town.

Houston Auto Show Art NRG| FRI : Noon - 9.30 pm, SAT : 10 am - 9.30 pm, SUN : 10 am - 7 pm| Tickets| Fancy yourself an admirer of anything to do with cars and trucks? Check out the amazing autos this weekend’s out show at NRG.

Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors @ Toyota Center| Friday @ 7 p.m.| Come on out and support the home team as James Harden and the Rockets try and continue their winning streak. Astros Fan Fest| Saturday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.| Astros fans can come out and celebrate their favorite team this weekend and meet a few of the stars from yesterday and today. Fans can meet current Astros Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, Lance McCullers Jr., Justin Verlander, and Alex Bregman, as well as legends like Jeff Bagwell, JR Richard, Shane Reynolds and ex-manager and player Art Howe. Fan fest is free, but you’ll need an admission voucher to get in. All of the vouchers online are gone, but they will have a limited number available on Saturday for fans who just walk up.

Monster Jam @ NRG Stadium| Houston| Saturday @ 7 p.m.| Nothing says Texas than big trucks with massive wheels tearing up the dirt. Monster Jam will be doing that this weekend at NRG. Launch Fashion Show at Discovery Green| Houston| Saturday 5 – 8 p.m. |Free and open to the public, this celebration of style will give more than 40 Houston-based apparel and accessories designers the opportunity to showcase their talents on the runway. Each look will reflect Houston’s sophistication and edge. Wellness salon and spa Riot Salon HTX will provide hair and makeup and DJ Little Martin will provide live runway music. Designer Chloe Dao, winner of Project Runway Season 2, will headline the show, which will also include Of Myth & Muse, Marilyn Biles, Edwige Pierre, Magpies & Peacocks and Kimono Zulu, among others.

Restaurant Week On Galveston Island| Jan. 26 - Feb. 10| Time to throw on the feedbag and tourn some of the most amazing eateries on the island. More than 30 restaurants are participating.

STEM Adventures with Kiddie Academy| Saturday at 3 Locations in Houston| Register online at Kiddie Academy STEM Adventures| The event is designed to introduce kids of all ages and their families to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education through age-appropriate and fun activities.Kiddie Academy wants our local families to see for themselves all the ways in which Kiddie Academy’s Life Essentials® curriculum taps into children’s natural sense of wonder and discovery as they explore the laws that govern the world around them. The event also aims to provide parents with ideas on how to bring STEM education into the home.

Skating with the Stars at Discovery Green| Sunday 6-6:45 p.m.| Free| A recurring winter event. Bring your skates, if you got them, and hit the ice.

Winter Wonder Land in Pasadena| Sunday 10-2| Come on out to Asbury United Methodist Church on Space Center Boulevard and enjoy games, face painting, rides and best of all snow. Admission is free, but they are asking for gently used coats for their ministry.

Curtis Grimes at O’Neals on the Water| Baytown| Sunday 5 - 8 pm| Kick back and listen to one of the Houston area’s up and coming artists.
