Willis Sued Over Red Light Cameras
Willis is being sued for failing to comply with red light camera laws.

Conroe, TX -- Red light cameras have become something of a passion for Irving-based attorney Russell J. Bowman.
Bowman sued Richardson, TX -- a town in Dallas County -- because the city had failed to perform legally required traffic studies. On June 27, a Dallas County judge ruled in favor of Bowman and invalidated a whole host of red light camera tickets.

Bowman has set his sights on Willis and is bringing the same line of attack to the Montgomery County town. The attorney alleges that he has uncovered evidence that the Willis city government failed to comission studies to examine various intersections throughout the town before installing red light cameras.
The Texas Transportation Code requires municipalities that are considering red light cameras to conduct a traffic engineering study to determine if "a design change to the approach or a change in the signalization of the intersection is likely to reduce the number of red light violations at the intersection."
