Woman Charged With DWI After Crash With Police Car

HOUSTON — A woman who allegedly crashed into a patrol car investigating a hit and run accident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

According to a press release from Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman's office, a deputy constable was stopped in the 15700 block of Interstate 45 north with his emergency lights flashing.

The deputy was inside of his vehicle, and was blocking a lane of the North Freeway when the deputy's vehicle was struck by another vehicle.

The deputy, who was not hurt, got out to investigate and check on the driver of the car that hit the patrol car.

The deputy said the driver of the car, identified as Vernishia Glenn, 57, showed several signs of being intoxicated.

The deputy administered several field sobriety tests to Glenn, which she failed, according to the press release.

Glenn was arrested and taken to the Harris County Jail where she was charged with driving while intoxicated.
