Woman Accused Of Fleeing Deadly Crash Could Face Felony Charges

A Harris County Grand Jury will decide if a woman accused of fleeing a fatal hit and run accident on Saturday will face felony charges.

HOUSTON — A Harris County Grand Jury will decide if a woman accused of fleeing an accident after running over two people on Saturday night will face felony charges. The woman, whose identity has not been released, is accused of hitting and killing a man and a woman as they crossed a street.

The crashed happened at about 9:35 p.m. in the 800 block of North Shepherd near West 10th Street in the Heights, police said.

The 64-year-old man and the 55-year-old woman were both taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where both later died.

Police said the driver fled the scene of the crash to a relatives home nearby, and was convinced by the relative to return to the scene.

The driver returned, was questioned by police, and released. Police said the driver didn't show any signs of being intoxicated.
