Woman Killed In Crash Never Used Her Brakes, Police Said
A woman and her 8-year-old son died when their car hit a tree in the Cloverleaf area Wednesday night, police said. None wore seatbelts.
HOUSTON — A woman and her 8-year-old son were killed in a single-car crash Wednesday night, and police said they don't believe she ever used her brakes. Police said the 34-year-old woman was driving too fast when she ran off the road and crashed her car into a tree.
The crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 14400 block of Alderson Street near Nancy Rose in Cloverleaf.
Police said neither the woman, her 8-year-old son who was in the passenger seat, or her 13-year-old son in the back seat, were wearing seat belts when they crashed.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 8-year-old son was taken to an area hospital where he later died. Her 13-year-old son is recovering at an area hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
Investigators are trying to determine if the woman was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
