Houston Turkey Dash Adds New Event for Thanksgiving Festivities
The healthy, holiday celebration will take place Thursday, November 28 (Thanksgiving Day) and event proceeds will benefit five nonprofits.

Kick off your Thanksgiving Day with a healthy, fun-filled tradition! The Houston Running Company proudly presents the return of the Houston Turkey Dash on Thursday, November 28 (Thanksgiving Day) to Delmar Stadium, 2020 Mangum Road in Houston. A beloved community staple, this year's event includes a new offering β handcycling β in addition to a half marathon, 10K, 5K, Family 1K or Kids K. Individuals of all skill levels are invited to participate and make lasting memories with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday. The addition of handcycling ensures anyone with limb mobility impairments can also take part in the fun. Event proceeds will benefit five different non profit organizations that serve a range of populations and demographics.
βI encourage community members to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and either start β or continue β the tradition of getting out to enjoy this healthy activity before Thanksgiving celebrations, and in some cases, big holiday meals!β said Randi Schooley, Race Director of the Houston Turkey Dash. "The Turkey Dash also aims to build community, and provide a way to support our charity partners, in line with the spirit of Thanksgiving.β
Proceeds from the event will benefit the HRC Foundation, who promotes health, community and empowerment through events that encourage physical activity and partners with local nonprofits, Ainsley's Angels builds awareness about the special needs community through working toward their inclusion in all aspects of daily life, The Asher House Animal Sanctuary who rescues animals that have been discarded or unwanted, Girls on the Run which inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, through a fun curriculum, and LifeGift Organ Donation who supports individuals and families through the organ and tissue donation process, and delivers life-saving transplants to donor recipients.
