Grandmother Killed In Gang-Related Shooting
Houston police officials say victim's adult son is a documented gang member.

HOUSTON, TX — Police officials here said a drive-by shooting on Monday morning left a grandmother dead in what they termed a gang-related incident. The shooting took place around 3:15 a.m. in the 600 block of East Sunnyside Street at Silvercrest.
Brenda Reyna, 63, was shot multiple times while asleep in her bedroom. Police officials said she was not the intended target of the shooter; nearly a dozen shots were fired from a passing vehicle. Officials added that the quality of video images of the car is too poor for them to make an identification of it or its occupants.
Reyna's adult son, as reported by KTRK, is registered with police officials as a known gang member, and lives at the home in which Reyna was killed. Officials said they believe the son is somehow connected to the gang involved in the shooting.

"We are sad to report that a Jefferson Elementary teaching assistant was killed Monday morning," read a statement issued by the Houston Independent School District. "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this employee, as well as to the entire Jefferson Elementary School community."
