Senior Citizen Kills Alleged Robber on East Fugate Street

The Houston Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred around 5:30 this morning in the 4200 block of North Main in the Heights.

A police spokesman said that a 78-year-old man shot and killed an alleged robber outside his property on East Fugate Street. The would-be victim, who was also armed, fired his gun at the suspect, who drove away in a pickup truck after the shooting. He was later apprehended in the 1600 block of Collingsworth and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police officials said the would-be victim was not harmed in the altercation.
