Would-Be Burglar Leaves ID At Scene, Lands In Jail
Ciriaco Balmaceda, 20, who was already on probation, was apprehended by authorities for Heights burglary attempt.

HOUSTON, TX — First rule in the thieves' handbook: Don't leave any incriminating evidence at the scene of the crime, especially a photo ID. One would-be burglar failed to follow that maxim in the Heights recently, and is now in jail.
Ciriaco Balmaceda, 20, and two others broke into a home near 10th Street and Ashland and were confronted by the occupant with a handgun. The trio fled the scene, but Balmaceda dropped a backpack he was carry, which was full of his personal belongings.
The owner of the home found the young suspect's school ID and, according to the Houston Chronicle, photographed it and sent it to Harris County police officials. That, along with video footage taken by a neighbor, led authorities to Balmaceda, who was arrested on two counts of burglary.
