MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS — Two men were arrested Saturday after leading police on a high-speed chase for more than 25 miles, through two counties, police said. Police arrested 28-year-old Edward Rodriguez and 27-year-old Shayne Davis after the pair were boxed in on a dead-end street.
The chase began at about 5 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 69 north in Splendora, when an officer who was patrolling in the area saw a speeding car with its license plate covered up. When the officer tried to pull the driver over, the driver, identified as Rodriguez, made a U-turn heading south on Interstate 69.
Other police agencies soon joined in the pursuit, which ended at Aldine Bender and Grandy Street in Humble, where police were able to block off the driver. Police said Rodriguez tried to escape by ramming a Constable’s patrol car but was able to get away.
