37 Humble ISD Students Recognized For Outstanding Achievement

Humble ISD recognized 37 of their students for outstanding academic achievement.

HUMBLE, TEXAS -- Humble ISD is proud to announce 37 high school students were recently recognized for their outstanding academic achievement by The National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.

High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Of the 1.6 million entrants, 50,000 with the highest Selection Index scores (critical reading, mathematics and writing skills) qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

These students rank in the top one percent of the nation’s high school seniors.

Commended students represent approximately 34,000 students who receive letters of commendation.

Finalists are comprised of 15,000 students. Winners are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments.

National Merit Commended Scholars included:

  • Morgan Marinelli and Aden Smith from Atascocita High School
  • Kieran Tillis, Timothy Bates, Tyson Butterfield, Paige Colbert, Jack Dempsey, Megan Tragesser, Jaden Dick, Jaclyn Taylor, Sean Ferguson, Adelaide Meier, Max Grimes, Ryan Sullivan, Austin Hodges, Tristen Milam, Brendan Smith, and Alyssa Rodriguez from Kingwood High School
  • Nick Logan, Kyle Celaya-Alvarez, and Andrea Unwin from Kingwood Park High School
  • Nicole Saito from Quest Early College High School
  • Jeffrey Gutke from Summer Creek High School

Each year the National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes about 5,000 of the 250,000 applicants who take the PSAT/NMSQT.

Representing Humble ISD as National Hispanic Recognition Scholars are:

  • Jordan Wells and Erika Valdez from Atascocita High School
  • Isabel Bauhs, Catherine Childs, Grayson Graham, Max Grimes, and Vanessa Rodriguez-Corrales from Kingwood High School
  • Nicole Saito from Quest Early College High School.
