Area missionary team returns safely from Haiti

A dedicated team of 10 missionary volunteers from Atascocita Community Church found themselves in the center of a crisis on the island of Haiti over the weekend of July 6-9. The team, headed by its organizer Johnathon Carr, was on its annual trip to Hosean International Ministries, a Haitian ministry dedicated to educating children in the small town of Pignon in North Central Haiti. While they were there, protests and riots broke out in and around Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital and largest city. There were also a number of other areas on the island where protests occurred. Although they were never physically threatened, it was an experience they will never forget – mostly because of the good they did rather than any threats of violence.
