Black Friday 2018: The Christmas Shopping Begins Thanksgiving Day

Black Friday shopping has moved to Thanksgiving Day, and retailers are hoping it will be a big year.

HOUSTON — The start of the 2018 Christmas shopping season begins on a day that many Americans wish retailers would leave alone. However, many stores will open their doors to Black Friday shoppers on Thanksgiving day.

Stores who are hoping to reap the benefits of one of the strongest economies in years will kick off the Christmas shopping season while many are still snoozing after a day of eating Thanksgiving turkey.

Several retailers will open early Thursday morning, a day ahead of traditional Black Friday shopping. The stores that plan to open before noon on Thursday include Walgreen’s, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, Big Lots, and Dollar General.
