Construction Begins On Kingwood Drive
Work has begun on one of the Houston area's worst and most congested roadways.

HOUSTON, TX -- Construction started Monday on one of the worst roadways in Houston. Houston City Councilman Dave Martin announced Thursday that crews will be working on areas of Kingwood Drive and Chestnut Ridge this week.
Kingwood Drive, which has been considered one of the oldest and worst roadways in Houston for many years, is expected to be widened by 2021, according to the city's capital improvement plan. Until then, crews will be making periodic repairs.
The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of several deteriorated pavement sections, Martin said. Crews will replace the concrete panel sections in the eastbound gutter lanes on Kingwood Drive, and a single replacement panel on the southbound lane of Chestnut Ridge.

Martin said he expects the construction to be complete by Aug. 28, weather permitting. There will be one lane open at all times during construction to maintain the flow of traffic. During the project, drivers should expect reduced speed through the channelized area. To ensure driver and worker safety, traffic control measures will be in place at all times.
