GMC Terrain Denali delivers luxury in compact crossover form

What it is: 2018 was the first year for the all-new Terrain to debut and the Denali trim is the top-of-the-line luxurious version. The exterior styling is quite different from the outgoing version, with boomerang-shaped headlights and rear-side windows that appear to pinch together above the rear fender. I don’t love the pinched glass look, but the rear and front look great.
GMC is keeping it simple with only a single engine available, a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant that can be paired with either FWD or AWD (at a $1,700 premium). The four-cylinder is quite peppy with 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, but it’s certainly no race horse. The nine-speed automatic transmission is very smooth and pairs well with the torque-heavy engine. The Denali is well-loaded with LED headlights, leather seats and more, but refreshingly GMC does offer six different packages.
