Huffman ISD Student Caught With Gun At School
Huffman ISD officials said they were tipped off Monday about a Hargrave High School student who'd brought a gun on campus to hurt himself

HUFFMAN, TX β A Hargrave High School student in Huffman ISD was arrested Monday after officials said he brought a gun onto campus.
Officials learned about the weapon after they'd received a tip that the student had the gun and allegedly intended to harm himself.
The campus was placed on lockdown and the campus was swept for other weapons, KHOU reported.

Huffman ISD released the following statement:
This morning we received a tip that a Hargrave High School Student had a gun in his backpack and was intending to harm himself. The student and backpack were immediately taken into custody and the building has been placed on lockdown as a precaution as we continue to investigate the incident.
We applaud the students who submitted the tip, and encourage them to stay vigilant and say something when they see or hear something.

The incident was the second reported in the Houston area since the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School on Friday.
On Monday morning, a student at League City Intermediate was arrested after he was caught with an unloaded gun on the campus.
The League City student was reported to school officials by another student who'd seen the weapon.
School Districts throughout the Houston area announced the enhanced security measures through the end of the school year.
Both incidents are under investigation.
