Humble City Council discusses speed limit
Humble City Council discusses speed limit due to change of designation to I-69/US-59
On May 28, Humble City Council members met to discuss approval of Ordinance 20-869, altering the prima facie speed limits on I-69/US-59. All roadways in Texas have a default speed limit called the prima-facie limit based on the type of roadway. This applies to residential streets (30 mph), alleys (15 mph), interstates (70 mph), etc.
Approval of this ordinance means that city officials and law enforcement can officially assess fines within city limits up to a penalty of $200.
The council approved this decision, but it does not mean that the current speed limits in place would be changing at this time, only visibility and speed enforcement as currently in place both ways on the highway and feeder streets.
